What’s the plan for Starbucks here? Working in retail management, I’d get DVDs and livestreams from corporate all the time when home office would want to deliver a message. I’d be lucky if I’d get half the staff engaged on whatever the topic was, and that would also have to include me and the rest of the management team at the store level actually wanting to receive the message.
Fast forward to this, where in both recent cases, it was the manager that decided to call the cops. Is the manager going to turn on a TV in the back, have the CEO deliver a canned message to deaf ears, and they move on? Or will there be actual training and accountability directed towards field level management? Simply taking a day off of work a month from now isn’t going to fix anything.
